How do I register for CLS Summer Programs? You may register electronically at www.charlottelatin.org (click on Summer Programs), download a printable form, or call the Summer Programs office at 704-846-7277 where you may speak directly to one of our administrators to complete a registration on the phone.
Can my child attend the CLS Summer Programs if he doesn’t attend during the school year? Yes, about 45% of our campers are non-Latin students during the school year.
Will my child need a physical to attend camps? No, however we do need a signed parental release form on file for your child to participate in our programs. You will be able to download the printable form from our website to sign and mail to the Summer Programs Office.
What is the schedule? Do I need to register my child for the entire summer?
Our programs run on a weekly basis. Our morning programs run from 9 am - Noon and our afternoon programs run from 1 pm – 4 pm. Some campers participate half days, while some campers are with us from 9 am – 4 pm. If your child participates in both a morning and afternoon program, we have a free-of-charge, supervised lunch hour during which time we eat lunch and play games. Our most popular programs are offered multiple times during the summer.
What does my child wear to camp? Please dress your child in appropriate clothes that can get dirty. Closed-toed sneakers are better than flip-flops or sandals. No “heelies” please. If your child is participating in an outdoor sports camp, dress for appropriate outdoor weather.
My child will be at camps during the lunch hour. Will there be food for my child to purchase? Boxed lunches from McAlister’s may be preordered. The boxed lunch registration is on the same page with the camp and bus selections. Boxed lunches are sold on a per week basis at a cost of $42 per week.
I need my child to attend the lunch hour, yet he isn’t staying for the entire day. How does this work? You may easily register your child for the lunch hour even if he won’t be here the whole day. There is a small charge for this service.
Is a snack provided for my child by CLS Summer Programs? We ask that all campers have a small snack and a water bottle for both a morning and afternoon camp.
Due to the variety of allergies and food sensitivities we encounter, we do not provide food to campers. *Exceptions: Coastal Explorers, Cooking, and Crazy Hawks are camps where children will be given food.*
What else does my child need to bring to camps? In addition to the snack and a bottle of water, some camps have daily art or projects that go home with the child. It may be a good idea to bring a book bag or canvas bag to carry items. Campers attending sports camps may need to bring items associated with the particular sport.
Where do I bring my child for camp?We have a convenient one-stop carpool location where you may bring all of your campers; from Providence Road, turn at the stoplight into campus at the main entrance. Follow the signs for “CLS Summer Programs.” These signs will bring you in front of the Media Center. We greet your child in carpool, check in and give them their nametag. We gather in small groups and walk the children to their camp location where their adult leader awaits them. No one is responsible for finding his or her own way and no one is ever left alone on campus.
How do register for the bus? The bus registration is a “choice” just like a regular camp. If you are registering online, the bus selection will be listed with the camp week at a cost of $42 per week per rider.
I need to pick up my child early. What do I do? Please notify the Summer Programs office so that we can make arrangements for your child to meet you early at carpool.
