SAT Review
Rising Grades 10 through 12
Each student will learn solid strategies, not “tricks,” which will give him or her confidence and skills needed to succeed on the SAT. Find out how the Educational Testing Service (ETS) determines your score, which types of questions appear on the SAT, and how to rely on one’s own intuitive logic, not just your calculator or your vocabulary. Campers will need to bring pencils, paper, and a calculator. A textbook with strategies and practice SAT tests will be provided for each camper.

Writers Who Paint
Rising Grades 9 through 12
This camp introduces students to authors who paint and provides students with the opportunity to create their own reflective texts that combine writing and painting. Did you know that J. R. R. Tolkien is also a painter whose visual art illustrates and illuminates the imaginative landscapes and characters of his famous novels? Did you know that William Blake’s visionary poems are actually made not just with striking words but also with vivid watercolors? After surveying model texts from The Writer’s Brush and from authors such as Tolkien and Blake, students will create visual artwork that reflects their favorite work of literature, write their own creative sketches in various genres such as story and poetry, and create multi-media texts that combine writing and watercolors as well as other artistic mediums. This camp is open to anyone who wants to have fun experimenting with creative writing and painting.
