Latin moves to 4-1 in the CISAA with a five inning win over Providence Day. Every starter scored at least one run and Moira Dohan had the defensive highlight of the game at third base. The Hawks travel to Country Day on Friday.

Leila Evans three run home run keyed a big win for the Hawks on Monday. Claire Lucas pitched another strong game and all 18 players contributed to the win. Latin is now 7-6, 3-1 in the CISAA.

Latin opened conference play with a 12-0 win today at PD. Claire Lucas threw a one hit shut-out with 7 K's for the Hawks. Kelley Breeney went 3-4 and Taylor Woollen had two hits to lead the offense. Latin is now 5-4, 1-0 in the CISAA and travel to conference favorite Charlotte Christian on Thursday @ 4:30 p.m.

Latin 12 York Prep 1
Latin played its' first game in nearly three weeks, and returned to the field with a 12-1 win over York Prep. The Hawks scored 8 first inning runs and coasted to victory from there with playing time spread all around. All 15 York outs were recorded by strikeout - 12 by starter Claire Lucas and three by Sr. closer kelly Breeney. Conference play begins tomorrow with a 4:30 game at PDS. Latin is now 4-4 on the season.

Latin 11 North Hills 1
After a split of this weekend's two games in Raleigh, the Hawks won 11-1 yesterday vs. North Hills Christian School. Latin played great defense and every player in the starting line-up reached base at least once. Clair Lucas continued to pitch extremely well. The Hawks are now 3-4, and will play their first conference game against Country Day on the Tuesday after Spring Break.

Latin 14 Northside 5
After starting the season 0-3 with losses to High Point Christian, Gaston Christian, and Hickory Grove, Latin rebounded to beat Northside 14-5 on Thursday. The Hawks continue to improve and, with 15 Fr. and So., the future looks promising. Ashley Fox had two key hits on Thursday and Claire Lucas has pitched well in all four games.

WOW - what a game on Senior Night! The Hawks once again showed great heart and toughness - beating PD 2-1 in 10 innings. Both teams had opportunities to win, but Sr. Rachel Schumacher's game winning, 2 out single proved to be the difference. Garland Austin pitched a great game as she allowed only one run and shut down many Charger threats late in the game. Latin finishes 10-5 in the regular season, 4-2 in the CISAA. Thanks again to our fantastic Seniors - Garland Austin, Mary Elizabeth Dixon, Anna Linsz, Myers McGarry, Katharina Miles, Woodie Robinson, Rachel Schumacher, and manager Elizabeth Crenshaw.

Latin's softball team showed incredible heart today and pulled out a 4-3 win at Christian this afternoon. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Hawks battled back with single runs in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th innings for the victory. Garland Austin's pitching was key, as usual, and she went 3-4 at the plate, but this was truly a team victory with contributions by everyone. CLS is now tied for the CISAA lead with Christian - both teams at 3-1 in the conference.

The Hawks won a hard-fought, well-played game today at Providence Day. Garland Austin pitched well and Sydney Sebastian played great defense in the outfield. Latin worked out several tough situations during the game to keep PD scoreless. With the score 0-0 in the top of the seventh, Garland drew a bases loaded walk to force in Moira Dohan with the go ahead run. The team, now 7-3, travels to Northside Christian on Friday.

Latin 4 Hickory Grove 8
The Hawks struggled at Hickory Grove this afternoon - a couple of unlucky breaks and a few errors making things very difficult against a good team. After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, they battled back to take a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning. Unfortunately, they were unable to hold the lead and fell 8-4. Freshman Carrie Mittl again played well in the field and contributed on offense, while Myers McGarry had two hits for the Hawks.

The Varsity softball team shook off the Spring Break rust to beat Covenant Day 4-1 on Tuesday. Garland Austin pitched well - allowing 1 unearned run on one hit, while striking out 6. Freshman lead-off hitter Carrie Mittl paced the offense with three runs scored and Katharina Miles had a huge two-out, two RBI double in the 5th inning. The Hawks play again on Thursday v. Hickory Grove Baptist and are now 2-1 on the year.

Latin finished the regular season on a high note by defeating Country Day 17-0 on Wednesday. Garland Austin threw her second one-hitter vs. Country Day this season and Katie Summa had 5 RBI's to lead the offense. The Hawks finish the regular season 11-6 and will begin tournament play on Tuesday, probably as the #4 or #5 seed.

Sr. Night was a huge success for the Hawks on Wednesday. The team pounded out 14 hits and Garland Austin threw a one-hitter to defeat Country Day 15-0 in 4 innings. Seniors Morgan Henry, Megan Kennelly, Charlotte Magee, and Katie Summa all contributed greatly to the win. The Hawks are now 10-5 on the season with two regular season games left.

Latin opened conference play with a 5-1 win at Charlotte Christian yesterday. Katie Summa's two-run triple and steal of home on a wild pitch got the Hawks off to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Garland Austin pitched a two hitter and the defense committed no errors. Ashley Medeiros led off the seventh inning with a single and helped the team add two insurance runs. The record is now 4-1, 1-0 CISAA.

After a two week lay-off due to Spring Break and bad weather, the Hawks finally got on the field again Friday in Durham. The team showed little rust jumping on DA early and playing well the entire game to earn a big 3A win. Garland Austin pitched well and hit a home-run, Morgan Henry moved to catcher and went 3-4, and Myers McGarry did a nice job at SS. Latin is now 3-1 and travels to Christian to open CISAA play on Tuesday.

The Hawks did not play one of their best games of the year on Tuesday but were able to pull out a 5-2 victory vs. Charlotte Christian. Latin fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, then held the Knights scoreless for the rest of the game. Garland Austin pitched well and Katie Sheild led the offense with two solid hits. Next game is against Durham Academy on Friday. The Hawks are now 8-3.

The Varsity Softball team travelled to Roanoke Rapids this weekend for the Halifax Academy Invitational. The team won three out of four games against very strong competition. The tourney was scheduled to be double-elimination, but due to time and travel issues the final will be decided when the Lady hawks play metrolina Christian later this season. Results below:

The Varsity Softball team bounced back from a disappointing opening game with a 12-2 victory today. After giving up two runs in the first inning, Erin Troxell shut the Spartans down and allowed only one hit. The defense played great - committing no errrors. Megan Harley hit a home run and laid down a perfect squeeze bunt. Erin Love scored 4 runs for the Hawks. The team travels this weekend to the Halifax Academy tournament.

The Hawks gave up two early runs and were unable to overcome a sluggish offensive start in the loss to the Trojans. Maddie Durrett pitched a great game giving up only 3 earned runs in the loss. Tracy Snell provided the offensive highlight with a triple to left field. The Hawks will have to learn how to play for 7 full innings if they are going to compete for state playoff consideration. The Chargers of Cary Academy came out fast and furious scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and following that up with a 2 run home run later in the game. The Hawks however, were able to withstand the pressure and regain control with the 13-5 victory. Maddie Durrett got her 4th win of the season and the Hawks raised their record to 5-2. The Hawks have big games this week with #3 Wesleyan (Tuesday), Ravenscroft(Friday), and #2 North Raleigh Christian(Saturday).

In a classic battle between two young teams the Hawks were able to forge ahead for the win. The Furies had an excellent game plan and were well coached in the loss. The Hawks were able to pound out a few more hits for the win. In the game Tracy Snell, Britt Caudill, and Dana Landseidel all went 2-3 and Megan Harley played tremendous defense at first base and second base. Maddie Durrett got the win and raised her record to 3-1 and Tracy Snell got the save for the Hawks.

The Hawks returned from Spring Break to defeat the Spartans of Gaston Day. The game was very close early as the Gaston Day scored on run in the first and the Hawks scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first. The game remained tight until the Hawks broke it open in the bottom of the fourth with a nine run explosion. The Hawks were led by Erin Troxell 2-2, Tracy Snell 1-4 , 2B 3 RBI's and Harriet Barnhardt 1-3 with 3 RBI's. Maddie Durrett struck out 10 in getting the victory. The Hawks raise their record to 3-1 and the Spartans drop to 3-2.

The Lions of Asheville Christian came to Charlotte and gave the Hawks all they wanted. The young lions are a well coached group and are doing all the right things to build a program. The Lions scored 1 run in the first and the Hawks answered back with 3 in the bottom of the inning. The Hawks Tracy Snell was 2-4 with 5 RBI's to lead the team and Maddie Durrett got her first win after coming back from a knee injury. The Hawks are on spring break until the 3/26.

The Hawks continued their winning ways on senior day as the wished their seniors well with a win. The win came over the Ravens who are tied for first place in their conference with North Raleigh. The Hawks scored runs in every inning but the third en route to the victory. Tracy Snell led the Hawks going 2-4 with 2 2B's and Maddie Durrett was 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Ashley Sigmon got the win for the Hawks who raise their record to 6-9.

The Hawks battled a tough opponent in PD today. Both teams were primed and ready for action as defense was the term of the day as both teams managed only 4 hits between them. Harriet Barnhardt led the Hawks with a 2B and 2 RBI's and Ashley Sigmon got the win on the mound. A bright spot for the Hawks was the stellar defense in the outfield, as Maddie Durrett stepped in a played a great game in right field.

The Hawks were no hit by Brittany Stevens today, as the Lions came in and handed the Hawks their second loss in a row. The Hawks are beginning to play better defense but continue not to be able to get the hits when needed. The Hawks take off for Easter Break but will return to action on Wednesday April 19th in a key game for both teams at Greensboro Day.

The Hawks showed their competitive spirit today but were unable to battle past the Furies today. The Hawks were unable to come up the key hit at the right time and left too many men on base to beat a team like FCDS. The Jaguars jumped on the Hawks early and often today as Forestview defeated Charlotte Latin School. The Jaguars scored eight in the first and seven in the fourth to tally the final score. The Hawks although the score doesn’t show it played much better defense. The lone offensive bright spot for the Hawks was Britt Caudill as she went 2-2. Forestview is 8-5 the Hawks drop to 3-5.

The Hawks played a scrappy Cavalier team today and came away with the 4-1 win. The Hawks were able to rebound from a horrible loss on Tuesday and played great defense today in the win. Erin Troxell was outstanding at shortstop and Britt Caudill continued to lead the way at the plate going 2-4 with a double. Ashley Sigmon continued her comeback from mononucleosis and got the win. The Hawks will be busy next week with 3 games against Forestview, Salem Academy and Forsyth Country Day. The Hawks raise their record to 3-4.

The Hawks lost a close battle today with North Raleigh Christian. The game was 2-1 going into the 4th when NRCA scratched a run across then the Hawks had bases loaded in the fifth and couldn't score which probably turned the game. The Hawks have to rebound now as they play a tough Wesleyan squad on Monday at Wesleyan. Congrats to Maddie Durrett who continues to pitch very well and it was good to have Ashley Sigmon back.

Charlotte Latin defeated the Chargers today by a score of 15-4. The score is no indication how close the ball game really was. The Chargers had bases loaded with the scored tied at 2 in the top of the fourth but were unable to push more than one run across. The Hawks then scored 13 in the bottom of the inning. Maddie Durett got her first varsity win as a pitcher, and Erin Ewald led the Hawks at the plate going 3-4 with 4 RBI's. Other leading hitters for the Hawks were Elsa Isak 2-2 with 3 RBI's, and Harriet Barnhardt and Tracy Snell with 2 RBI's a piece. The Hawks return to action on Saturday as they face a very tough North Raleigh Christian team at home @ 1:00pm

The Spartans jumped all over the Hawks tonight in the opener for Charlotte Latin. After a 9-0 start in the bottom of the first the Hawks were never able to muster any offense and lost 15-0. The Hawks beat the Unicorns today 12-2. Leading the Hawks at the plate were Harriett Barnhardt 3-4 3B and 4 RBI's and Ashley Sigmon 1-3 3B and 3 RBI's. Caroline Buchan got the win for the Hawks who raised their record to 12-8. The Hawks will have to wait and see about their playoff seeding.

The Hawks and the Bucs battled today in another close game. Harrison Dawkins and Ashley Sigmon friends since Little League dueled and the Hawks were able to come out with a 6-5 victory. The Hawks did not come away unscathed though as they lost Carol Walker to an ankle injury in the fourth inning. Two teams who respect, care and compete were on the field today. No one deserved to lose. Leading the Hawks at the plate today were Ashley Sigmon 2-4 RBI, Carol Walker 2-3 RBI, Caroline Buchan 2-3 RBI, and Erin Troxell 2-4 RBI. The Hawks return to the field tomorrow to face NCSM. CLS is 11-8 and 4-2 while CCDS is 8-11 and 1-5.

Today no one deserved to lose. Caroline Buchan and Harrison Dawkins battled the rain and each other. In the game only 5 hits were given up between the two pitchers and only two runs. Wesleyan Academy came to Charlotte Latin and were ready to play as they jumped on the Hawks early to score 3 runs. The Hawks however, tightened up their defense and became more aggressive at the plate and pounded out 13 hits in the 4-3 win. Both teams played great defense as the Hawks and Trojans left numerous baserunners. The Hawks were led at the plate by Caroline Buchan 4-5 and 1 GWRBI, Erin Ewald 2-4 2B, RBI. The Hawks raise their record to 9-5, 2-1 and the Trojans drop to 10-5. The Hawks take on the BUCS tomorrow in a tough CISAA tilt.

The Charlotte Latin Hawks visited a much improved Charlottte Christian squad today and was just able to sneak away with a win. The Hawks scored 3 runs in the first inning and 2 in the third but the Knights played solid defense the rest of the day. The Knights outhit the Hawks 7-6 but were unable to push runs across when they needed it. Caroline Buchan got the win for the Hawks and Carol Walker led the way at the plate going 2-3 with 2 RBI's. The Hawks raise their record to 8-5 and 2-1 in CISAA play. The Knights drop to 3-7 and 1-2 in the CISAA. No rest for the weary as the Hawks take on Sun Valley tomorrow night.

In the Hawks first conference the Hawks and Chargers had a typical defensive battle. The Hawks rebounded from their defeat at the hands of the Furies and jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Chargers would not give in and held the Hawks in check after the 4 inning. Caroline Buchan scattered 3 hits 2 by Adams which one was a double and the other a line drive single. Caroline also contributed 2 hits and Tracy Snell although hitless at the plate had 2 RBI's. The Hawks raise their record to 7-4 and the Chargers drop to 2-6. The Hawks have little time to enjoy the victory as the Chargers come to Latin on Tuesday.

Today two fine pitchers and young ladies battled today to almost a draw as Bengals came to see the Hawks. Kristen McDonnell befuddled the Hawks and scattered 7 hits on the day while Ashley Sigmon gave up only 3 hits enroute to the win. The Hawks could not put together any hits in a row but did play good defense in the win. Charlotte Latin was led at the plate by Lauren Gabosch who was 2-3. In a day where we saw rain, wind (gusts to 30 mph) , thunder, lightning, and hail, the Hawks were lucky to even get this game in. The Hawks were also fortunate to come away with the win. Strong Vincent went up 5-0 early on some timely hitting and some errors, but the Hawks didn't quit. They clawed their way back into the game. Ashley Sigmon got the win for the Hawks going the distance. Leading the way at the plate were Carol Walker 2-4, Erin Troxell 2-4, Erin Ewald 2-4, Tracy Snell 2-4 2 RBI's, and Caroline Buchan GWRBI. On a very damp day when no one ever thought that games would be played the Hawks faced a very formidable opponent in Canon McMillian. The team from Pennsylvania showed skill and command of the game by defeating the Hawks 5-0. The Hawks were no hit by Becca Petras and never really threatened. The Hawks though had a very solid pitching performance by Caroline Buchan who took the loss but only gave up six hits and struck out 4. The Hawks have to improve on defense and offense tommorrow when they play another Pennsylvania team Strong Vincent. The Hawks drop to 3-2.

Charlotte Latin opened its season today against the Spartans of Sun Valley. The Hawks were down 4 runs after the top of the first inning but came back to score 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to go ahead. The Hawks then scored 3 more in the bottom of the second but the Spartans were not to be denied. They continued to fight and scored runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings to tie the score at 8. The Hawks battled through adversity to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to goa ahead in the game. The Hawks and the Buccaneers had another classic battle today. The Hawks were able to score a run in the first and second inning. Then Carol Walker scored what ended up being the game winning run in the 6th to put the Hawks up 3-0. The Buccaneers would not quit as they put together some key hits in the seventh and scored 2 runs to raise the blood pressures of both coaches. The Hawks however, were able to get a ground out to end the game. Caroline Buchan and Harrison Dawkins both pitched outstanding games as they both only gave up 3 hits. The Hawks could not rally the bats today as they lost to the Buccaneers by a score of 1-0. The Hawks had scoring chances but could not get the key hit. The Hawks rallied behind pitcher Caroline Buchan today as the Hawks defeated the Eagles 14-7. The Hawks scored 14 runs on 14 hits as 8 of the 9 Hawk starters got a least one hit. The game was exciting from the top of the first inning on as Charlotte Latin turned two double plays to get out of first and sixth inning jams.
